The Stenheim promise is not just the most music, but the most music for your money. It drives the design imperative to build speakers that will get the maximum musical value from the rest of your system, just as it drives the requirement to allow the music its full expressive and dynamic range. But it is also important to make the product as affordable as possible, carefully selecting components and honing costs at every turn. The Alumine Five delivers more music than any other speaker its size or price. 

But if cost is no object? If the practical limitations are more about size than budget? Then you should consider the Alumine Five SE Special Edition.

Take the same sophisticated cabinet design and drivers but lace them together with a cost-no-object crossover, built with the best available components and that’s the Five SE. Passive crossovers are also referred to as ‘subtractive networks’. They work by trimming level and bandwidth to meld the drivers into a single, coherent whole – at least, in theory. But passive crossovers also inhibit dynamics, clutter or coagulate rhythmic articulation and shift phase and musical energy. The Alumine Five’s crossover is exactingly and meticulously engineered to be as musically unobtrusive as possible – at the price. But remove the budgetary shackles and it is possible to release a whole new level of musical information: greater resolution, richer textures, more articulate rhythms and more natural dynamics. Exhaustive listening tests have led us to develop our own internal wiring and select the very best parts from Mundorf and Jansen, Duelund, Myflex and Jupiter – a Who’s Who of boutique audiophile brands. The result is even greater transparency and dimensionality, even more natural separation and perspectives, micro-dynamic and harmonic resolution, a greater range of tonal colour. The result is, more music, more musician and less speaker. In fact, more of what makes the Alumine Five such a great speaker in the first place.
